Cinnamomum zeylanicum or Ceylon Cinnamon which belongs to family Lauraceae is the cinnamon species, found only in Sri Lanka. Other than Ceylon cinnamon, Chinese cinnamon Cinnamomum cassia can be seen in international market. Comparatively Ceylon cinnamon includes less or no coumarin, a substance which can cause liver damage when consumed in high dosage. On the contrary, coumarin is abundantly found in Cassia cinnamon. Organic Nutmeg is received from the seed kernel of Myristica fragrans fruit. Outermost layer of Nutmeg fruit is a fleshy thick cover named as nutmeg apple, which is also a commercially valuable part. Inside the apple, seed is located covered with the mace around it. Nutmeg is enclosed in a brittle, brown colour hard shell.

Nutmeg contains Myristicin which imparts its sophisticated fragrance and flavor. Sri Lankan organic nutmegs we produce have higher essential oil levels approximately around 12% and splendid aroma. Nutmeg can reduce flatulence, aid in digestion, improve the appetite and treat diarrhea, vomiting and nausea.
